Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Policy

HIPAA is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of those using health care services in this country. Under HIPAA, certain information may be deemed "Protected Health Information" (PHI). Typically, PHI includes identifying information (name, age, sex, address), as well as information concerning current or previous medical conditions and/or treatment you received for those conditions.

Because Blue Valley Community Action Inc. (BVCA) provides certain health care services to individuals and families, we are developing a "Notice of Privacy Practices." This notice will set out how we plan to collect, use and disclosure your PHI to determine your eligibility for services, to provide health care services to you, to receive payment for the services we provide, to engage in case management, and other incidental uses or disclosures necessary to provide you with appropriate health care services. A copy of BVCA's Notice of Privacy Practices is provided to individuals who are covered by the policy. If you wish to receive a copy of this policy, you may call our home office (402.729.2278) or email us.
