To further prevent your child from getting sick and spreading germs, teach them these five things:

  • Sneeze and cough into a tissue, then wash your hands
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds at a time
  • Do not share food or drinks with others
  • Avoid interacting with sick people
  • Stay home when you’re feeling sick

Sharing is caring, but sharing germs is not.

Viruses can live anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours on surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, and tables. Bacteria can live even longer! When kids (and adults) touch those things, the germs can get on their hands and into their bodies by touching their eyes, noses, or mouths.

Encourage a Healthy Lifestyle to Keep Kids Healthy.

  • Drink lots of water. Did you know that our body is mostly made up of water?
  • Eat your five a day! Five portions of different fruits and veggies each day for a balanced diet.
  • Stay active! 30-60 minutes a day will make a huge difference.
  • Make sure you get lots of sleep! Seriously, kids need 9-10 hours of sleep each night.
  • Have a good posture. This helps to build a strong core and back.
  • Brush your teeth twice a day. Once those adult teeth come in, they are the only ones you’ve got. Protect them!
  • Smile and think positively. You are what you think.
  • Have some YOU time. Time to yourself is essential. Try reading, coloring, or meditating during this time.
